Summer Cottage is one of the accommodation units at Summer Sand Holiday Cottages, tucked into a residential street in Scottburgh South. It's built for the kind of holiday where nobody has to be anywhere: two bedrooms, a full kitchen, a braai, and a pool down the garden path.

The cottage sleeps up to six, which makes it work equally well for a family with children, two couples sharing, or a small group of friends down for a long weekend of diving and surf. You self-cater, which means you set your own hours — early breakfast before the tide, late supper off the braai.

Everything below is part of the cottage — no add-ons, no extras to negotiate. Bring food, beach towels and a sense of holiday.

Main bedroom Included

Double bed with bedside tables and reading lamps, built-in cupboards, and a window that catches the morning sun off the garden.

Second bedroom Included

Twin single beds — the room the children will claim within about four minutes of arriving.

Extra bedding for two Included

Linen and pillows for the full six-guest occupancy. Please let us know your numbers when you book so it's all made up before you arrive.

Bathroom Included

Shower, basin and toilet, with towels provided. Beach towels are not supplied — bring your own.

Living & kitchen self-catering

Full kitchen Included

Stove, oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery for six. Everything you'd need to cook properly rather than reheat.

Lounge and dining Included

Open-plan seating and a dining table that seats six, with a television for the evenings the sea breeze turns cold.

Braai facilities Included

Outdoor braai area for the evenings. Charcoal and firelighters aren't supplied — the garage on the main road has both.

Wi-Fi Included

Available in the cottage. Good enough for streaming and video calls; we'll send the network details with your arrival information.

Outside shared grounds

Swimming pool Included

Guests at Summer Cottage have access to the swimming pool on the property. Please supervise children at all times — there is no lifeguard.

Garden and lawn Included

Shaded lawn with room for children to run. Coastal birds most mornings, and the occasional visiting hadeda.

Off-street parking Included

Parking on the property, off Barbara Avenue, for the duration of your stay.

Pets Ask first

Pets may be permitted, but the rules differ per unit and per season. Please confirm with us before you book if you're travelling with an animal.

Barbara Avenue runs off the residential grid in Scottburgh South. Look for the Summer Sand Holiday Cottages signage at the gate — parking is on the property, so pull in rather than parking on the street.

What to bring

The cottage is self-catering, so plan on bringing your own food and drinks for the first night — the nearest shops are a short drive into town.

Worth packing: beach towels, sunblock, insect repellent for the evenings, charcoal if you plan to braai, and a light jacket for the sea breeze.
